Intended use of x-ray diffractometer "Boule":
designed
for quick determination of orientation of the first cut in large
grown single crystals of Si, corundum, quartz, based on
deviation of diffraction maximums, wherein the convergent
primary x-ray beam had an axis perpendicular to the surface of
single-crystal boule cut

Principle of operation
the x-ray diffractometer "Boule":
Kumakhov polycapillary
lens (capillary optics, X-ray optics) used to form a convergent
beam with convergence angles of ~ 5°
permits to receive diffraction reflexes immediately from several
crystallographic planes, forget use of complicated goniometer
devices to rotate the sample, considerably reduce their exposure
time (down to several seconds).

Software of x-ray diffractometer
Software permits simultaneous processing of input from two
detectors to determine orientation of the diffraction cone. |

Goniometer Device of the x-ray diffractometer "Boule"
On the goniometer device, an x-ray tube
equipped with a polycapillary lens forming a convergent x-ray
beam is mounted. To register the picture of diffraction, two
linear-coordinate detectors are placed at equal angular
distances from the x-ray tube. The goniometer is put on top of a
support, which axis is parallel to the axis of boule. When
specified crystallographic plane coincides with the cut surface
plane, detectors register two symmetric peaks; when they do not
coincide – the two peaks will be asymmetric. |

Unit
Electronic control unit of x-ray
diffractometer "Boule" includes
high-voltage power supplies to x-ray tube and linear-coordinate
detector, ADC, input matching board, and power supply control
unit.
